La Joya ISD School-Board Mess
I was actually planning on posting a long and insightful blog about the problems LJISD is facing. However, upon beginning my post I realized that it was far to complicated an act to analyze on such little study. There are way too many character with varying relationships and to be quite honest its really complicated. Rather I will soon be breaking things down issue by issue. The first issue will concern busing students within a two mile radius of their school. In my opinion this seems to be where the trouble started and most people are really split on what the plan of action should have been.

The bus issue in La Joya is a bit complex and completely overdone.
I completely agree with the Board's decision to remove busing within the 2 mile radius (Arturo Gonzalez and Valente Alaniz were also in favor of this) a few years ago, EXCEPT for those living in hazardous areas that could pose a threat to the child. Transportation should be provided to children living in these areas.
Tabasco Elem, for example, is located on Leo Ave., a not too busy road with sidewalks all along. Kids living in this area should NOT be riding a bus to their home. That is a waste of time, gas, traffic, and another great source of pollution.
While the USA team may have had some good intentions with this issue, they also exploited the it. They knew this would win them the election, but they failed to STOP and think through the ramifications of this issue.
A new election is set to occur in February and if Domingo Villarreal, Jr. and Elma Garza win, one party will have a majority.
Unfortunately, this majority will have to uphold the promise made by Uresti Alaniz and Salinas. As a result, taxpayers will continue footing the bill to keep this promise- why? Because like a spoiled child, parents refuse to grow up and take responsibility.
Agree with HA. Posted some research on this issue in my blog.
